Geotextiles are permeable fabric materials manufactured from either Polypropylene or Polyester. There are three main types of geotextiles – non woven, woven or heat bonded. Woven geotextiles are commonly used as a structural fabric for reinforcement applications. Non-woven geotextiles are used for separation, drainage/filtration or for protection/ cushioning (protecting a geomembrane liner). Geotextiles are commonly used as part of composite lining systems, where a geomembrane liner requires protection from underlying soil/ subgrade or protection from aggregates/ soils placed over the completed lining system.
